Grenada secures comeback against Cayman Islands
ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada – The 2025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers continued with Grenada earning a 3-1 win against the Cayman Islands in Group C on Tuesday at Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada.
Molly Keho e placed the Cayman Islands in the lead in the 4’ with a stunner from long distance.
Raquelle Mitchell equalized for Grenada in the 45’+5’, striking with a header from close range after an initial effort from Nia Thompson inside the six-yard box that bounced off the bar.
Thompson turned the scoring around for the hosts in the 62’ with a right-footed finish from close range.
Second-half substitute Alexis Hypolite rounded out the win for Grenada with a left-footed finish from the left end of the box in the 88’.
Grenada picked up its first win in Group C and will look for back-to-back wins when it visits Bermuda for its match of the tournament on Saturday.
The Cayman Islands concluded its participation in the W Qualifiers, finishing the campaign in fifth place in Group C.

- The Grenada women’s national team recorded its first victory in the history of the qualifiers, ending a streak of 15 consecutive matches without a win (D-2 L-13) and snapping a run of seven straight defeats.
- It marked the 2nd time that Grenada conceded only one goal in a qualifiers match, following the 1-1 draw vs. Dominica (May 25, 2018). Additionally, the three goals scored represent the highest number of goals recorded by Grenada in the history of the competition.

- Raquelle Mitchell, Nia Thompson, and Alexis Hypolite of Grenada each scored their first goal in the history of the qualifiers. It also marked the first time that three different players scored goals for Grenada in a single match in the tournament.
- Molly Kehoe of the Cayman Islands scored her first goal in the history of the qualifiers.
- The Cayman Islands suffered its 5th consecutive defeat in the history of the qualifiers, the longest losing streak for the team in the competition. However, the goal scored by Molly Kehoe ended a run of four consecutive matches without scoring.
- It marked the 10th defeat for the Cayman Islands in the history of the qualifiers, with the following all-time record: GP-13 W-2 D-1 L-10 GF-9 GA-70.
