Miami, FL – Concacaf today launches the second iteration of its highly impactful “What's Wrong is Wrong" (WWIW) anti-discrimination campaign. This initiative aims to promote equality, inclusivity, and respect in football across the region, fostering a safe and welcoming environment for all individuals involved in the game.

Building upon the positive impact of the inaugural campaign, which largely focused on a core aim of discouraging derogatory chants in stadiums, Concacaf's second iteration of "What's Wrong is Wrong" seeks to further combat discrimination of any form within the beautiful game. With a series of creative videos launched by the Confederation this summer, the program will continue to build on the theme of highlighting to fans that offensive language sometimes heard in stadiums would not be acceptable anywhere else in society, and therefore has no place in football. Simply put, if it is wrong at a youth sports event, at home, or in other settings, then it is wrong in the stadium as well.

With a summer filled with Concacaf men’s national team football, including the Concacaf Nations League Finals and the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup, the Confederation has taken a strong stance through this campaign. Concacaf President and FIFA Vice President, Victor Montagliani, said: “Football is about passion and joy and it is a sport that belongs to everyone. This campaign makes it very clear that discrimination has no place in our game, and it has a simple message at its heart: if you wouldn’t say or shout something at home, at a youth match or in other environments, then don’t do so in the stadium. There is plenty of room to be passionate, loud and partisan - all things we love and enjoy about the game - and to do so in a way that includes all communities.”

Through the "What's Wrong is Wrong" campaign, Concacaf will work closely with various stakeholders, including member associations, clubs, players, fans, and corporate partners, to foster a united front against discrimination.

Concacaf will utilize its extensive network and digital platforms to raise awareness about the importance of inclusivity and equality. Through engaging content, inspiring stories, and powerful messaging, the campaign aims to foster a collective commitment to eradicating discrimination from the soccer community.

Concacaf General Secretary, Philippe Moggio, said: “We will be activating What’s Wrong Is Wrong across all of our summer national team competitions. There will be a range of digital content to engage fans across the region, and there will be impactful messaging on giant screens and LED boards within stadiums which make it absolutely clear that discrimination has no place in Concacaf competitions, or anywhere in our sport. We have also worked hard to prepare our stadium teams to follow the three-step anti-discrimination protocol, and to increase security provisions with a view to being more proactive in ejecting fans who engage in discriminatory behavior. Our message to fans is clear: attend our competitions and back your team with passion and joy, but that should never cross the line into insulting or discriminatory language.”
