Academia Quintana, Guyana Defence Force victorious to start CFU Club Shield
MIAMI – The 2025 CFU Club Shield kicked off with matches in Groups A and B on Saturday, as the quest begins to find the tournament’s next champion and award two berths to the 2025 Concacaf Caribbean Cup.
Group A
Academia Quintana 5, Rovers SC 0
Academia Quintana earned a 5-nil win against Rovers SC in Group A at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Joseph “Jackie” Marrero and Tomás Fernández struck in the first half to place Academia Quintana in the lead.
Adrián Faisca , Wilfredo Rivera and Kevin Javier each added their name on the scoresheet in the second half to seal the three points.
SV Real Rincon 1, La Clery Football League 1
SV Real Rincon and La Clery Football League drew 1-1 in Group A at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.
La Clery Football League took the lead off a corner kick opportunity in the 66’, with Mervin St.Romain putting the ball into the net.
Ayrton Cicilia equalized for SV Real Rincon in the 79’ with a left-footed strike inside the box.
Group B
St. Paul's United Strikers FC 0, Guyana Defence Force 2
Guyana Defence Force earned a 2-nil victory against St. Paul's United Strikers FC in Group B at Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago.
Colin Nelson opened the scoring with a penalty kick conversion near the end of the first half. Chris Macey sealed the three points with a strike from the left side of the box in second half stoppage time.
SV Britannia 1, Paradise FC International 1
SV Britannia and Paradise FC International drew 1-1 in Group B at Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago.
Keston Williams placed Paradise FC International in the lead with a right-footed touch inside the box in the 35’ to meet a service form Joshua Isaac .
Reangelo Boekhoudt equalized for SV Britannia in the 67’ to split the points.
Moca FC 1, AS Étoile de Matoury 0
Moca FC won 1-nil against AS Étoile de Matoury in Group B at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.
An own goal in the 41’ delivered the lone goal of the match and the victory for Moca FC.
