Philippe Moggio
Concacaf Council appointed Philippe Moggio as General Secretary in June 2016. In his role, Moggio acts as the Confederation's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), leading its daily business and operations.
Moggio is focused on executing President Victor Montagliani’s ONE Concacaf strategic plan to further position the Confederation as a leading sports organization, while serving the needs of its 41 Member Associations across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
He has helped usher in a new era for Concacaf, pushing its vision and business operations to new levels of growth and professionalism. He has led the efforts to successfully implement reforms and good governance measures, designed a new regional strategy and corporate identity to build long-term value, and restructured the organization with a focus on improving operating performance.
Moggio has overseen the expansion of the Confederation’s club and national team competitions, including the Concacaf Nations League, Gold Cup, and Champions Cup, and most recently, the first-ever women’s Gold Cup and Champions Cup. All of these competitions, along with the Confederation’s football development initiatives in youth development, coaching education, and refereeing, are helping drive the sport's growth in the Concacaf region at an unprecedented pace.
Moggio brings to his role an extensive background and a lifelong passion for sports. Prior to his appointment at Concacaf, Moggio was Senior Vice President of Latin America for the National Basketball Association (NBA), managing the expansion of its business and the development of basketball initiatives throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. He directed the NBA's efforts in the region across marketing partnerships, events, television, digital media, and licensed merchandise.
In addition to his vast knowledge of the sports industry, Moggio worked as an investment banker for 10 years, covering media, telecom, and technology industries in both the U.S. and Latin America. He spent five years each at Banc of America Securities and ABN AMRO/ING Barings.
An athletic standout, Moggio was a professional tennis player from 1995-1998 and represented Colombia in multiple Davis Cup matches.
Moggio, a citizen from Colombia, France and the United States, is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Western Sydney.
