TOLUCA, Mexico -- After stops at 10 different clubs in five countries since 2001, Panamanian Luis Tejada will continue his career in a new nation: Mexico. Toluca announced Wednesday that it had acquired the 30-year-old from Peru's Juan Aurich, where he had scored 33 goals in 65 games.

Prior to his most recent stint in South America, Tejada had played for clubs such as America de Cali (Colombia), Tauro (Panama), Real Salt Lake (United States) and Al Ain (United Arab Emirates).

Before joining up with the Diablos Rojos in Mexico, the striker is expected to take up a key role in Panama's next two CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers. The Group C table-toppers play away against Canada on Friday, before hosting the reverse fixture four days in Panama City.

Tejada is the Panamanian national team's all-time leading scorer with 34 goals, including eight in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which is good for joint sixth place on the competition's goal chart. Additionally, he led the Marea Roja to a runner-up finish at the 2005 edition, earning MVP honors.
