Wondolowski on board as U.S. roster takes shape

CHICAGO – In the week since he named the United States’ roster for World Cup qualifiers against Honduras (March 24, home) and Panama (March 28, away), head coach Bruce Arena has added five players, while three have left the squad.

Here’s a look at roster changes:

MARCH 16, 2017
In: goalkeeper David Bingham (San Jose Earthquakes)
Out: goalkeeper Brad Guzan (Middlesbrough/England)
Reason: Guzan’s wife is expecting birth of couple’s second child

MARCH 17, 2017
In: defender Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
Out: defender Fabian Johnson (Borussia Monchengladbach/Germany)
Reason: Johnson has been sidelined with a hamstring injury suffered in first half of Europa League match against Schalke on March 16

MARCH 19, 2017
In: midfielder Sacha Kljestan (New York Red Bulls)
Out: forward Bobby Wood (Hamburg/Germany)
Reason: Wood injured his back in a German Bundesliga game at Eintracht Frankfurt on March 18

In: defender Matt Besler
Out: none
Reason: Besler was added to provide defensive depth

Reason: Wondolowski was added to provide a personnel option up front
