CHICAGO – United States defender Timothy Chandler has withdrawn from the squad ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers due to a hamstring injury, U.S. Soccer announced Tuesday.

The 27-year-old, who appeared in 32 of Eintracht Frankfurt’s 34 games during the recently-completed German Bundesliga season, started and played 72nd minutes before exiting a 2-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s German Cup final.

The U.S. is scheduled to host Venezuela in an international friendly on June 3, before resuming the final round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying with meetings against Trinidad & Tobago (June 8, home) and Mexico (June 11, away).

Chandler has competed in two matches during the Americans’ campaign for Russia 2018.
