Honduras falls to Norway in Under-20 World Cup finale

LUBLIN, Poland – Honduras completed its participation in the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup with a 12-0 defeat to Norway in their Group C finale on Thursday evening at the Lublin Stadium in Lublin, Poland.

The star of the day was Erling Braut Haland, who scored nine goals to lead Norway to the three points.

Haland got going early and scored the Norwegians first two goals in the 7’ and 20’ with a pair of left-footed finishes.

A thumping header from Leo Skiri Ostigard in the 30’, followed by a Haland penalty conversion in the 36’ stretched the lead to 4-0 before Haland tacked on another right before halftime in the 43’.

Norway’s momentum continued into the second half and Jens Petter Hauge tallied in the 46’ prior to Haland’s fourth score of the day in the 50’ for a 7-0 lead.

Honduras’ day got tougher when Axel Gomez was sent off in the 57’, which helped pave the way for Haland’s next two goals of the day in the 67’ and 77’. 

Eman Markovic added a score in the 82’ before Haland rounded out the day with his eighth and ninth goals in the 88’ and 90’.
