MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup continues with hosts United States of America against Trinidad and Tobago meeting in Group D on Sunday at PayPal Park in San Jose, California.

The two nations meet at the summer spectacle for the sixth time. The U.S. lead with five wins over The Soca Warriors.

The last meeting between them was in the Quarterfinals of the 2023/24 Concacaf Nations League. Trinidad and Tobago earned a 2-1 victory over the U.S. in the second leg of the series at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, with the U.S. advancing 4-2 on aggregate.

USA chases eight title

The U.S. is the second-most winning nation with seven Gold Cup trophies and will hope to start the path to its eight crown. The Americans are led by Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino, who will manage his first Gold Cup.

Matt Turner and Walker Zimmerman add experience as members of the U.S. squad that won the 2021 Gold Cup. Tim Ream and Tyler Adams, two players that have also worn the captain’s armband, add more experience to complete a quartet that was part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup roster.

Sebastian Berhalter and Brian White, key players to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC runners-up campaign in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, also feature on the roster. Both players had Best XI campaigns, with White being one of the top scorers of the recent edition.

Diego Luna and Patrick Agyemang also return to the national team as part of the squad that finished fourth in the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League.

Trinidad and Tobago aims for return to Knockout Stage

Trinidad and Tobago will seek to get out of the Group Stage for the first time since the 2015 edition. The best finish for The Soca Warriors came as semifinalists in 2000, which featured the legendary Dwight Yorke who now leads the side as manager.

Under Yorke, Trinidad and Tobago has advanced to the Third and Final Round of Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ten different players have found the scoresheet for the Caribbean nation in the Second Round of Qualifying including Levi García, Nathaniel James and Dante Sealy, who will seek to bring their scoring form to the Gold Cup.

Marvin Phillip, Kevin Molino, Joevin Jones, and Alvin Jones headline a list of experienced players with multiple Gold Cup call ups.
