Malacateco and Real España win in their national leagues ahead of the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf League

Miami, Florida - The second leg of the Preliminary Round of the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf League will be held this week to determine the qualifiers for the Round of 16.

Nine Central American teams, in five series, face each other to advance to the next round that will be played beginningAugust 16.

In Guatemala, Municipal failed to win in the National League, but the Reds have their SCL series in their favor after a 4-0 against Dominican Republic’s Atlético Vega Real.

While Malacateco, who is making its Concacaf debut against Sporting San Miguelito of Panama, achieved an important 3-0 victory against Mixco, with goals from Jhon Córdova, Raúl Calderón and Jorge Sánchez. The 2022 Opening Tournament is led by Cobán Imperial.

For its part, Sporting San Miguelito tied 1-1 against Plaza Amador, on the second matchday of the Panamanian League.

 

Royal duel

Real España started the Honduran League with a 1-0 victory against Lobos UPNFM, on a penalty scored by Darixon Vuelto.

The Honduran squad is playing for the SCL classification against Nicaragua’s Real Estelí, who had no activity in their local league.

 

Duels against the Salvadorans

Alajuelense suffered a 3-0 loss against CS Herediano, in the fourth day of the Opening Tournament of the Costa Rican League, while Verdes of Belize drew 0-0 against Port Layola FC.

The second leg of the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf League Preliminary Round, which will deteremine the six teams that will advance to the Round of 16, will be held between August 2nd and 4th.
