MEXICO CITY. - Juan Ignacio Dinenno scored two goals in regulation and converted the final kick from the penalty spot in the series-deciding shootout as Pumas UNAM beat the New England Revolution 3-0 in regulation and 4-3 in the shootout to advance to the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League semifinals Wednesday night at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario in Mexico City.

Trailing 3-0 on aggregate after last week’s match at Gillette Stadium, Pumas needed goals. They got a pair from Dinenno. The first came in the 33rd minute, when fellow forward Rogerio brought down a cross and set up the Argentine for the opener.

The pair connected again shortly after the second half began. Rogerio played a low ball into the box for Dinneno who beat his defender to the ball in the box for the finish.

The series was level when Sebastian Saucedo received a pass at the back post, took a touch and fired past New England GK Earl Edwards Jr.

The Revs had an opportunity to win the tie in stoppage time, with Omar Gonzalez putting a header on target, but Pumas GK Alfredo Talavera was in the right place to keep his clean sheet.
