Canada to meet Mauritania in friendlies

OTTAWA – The Canadian Soccer Association announced Friday that its men’s national team will hold its first camp under the leadership of new head coach Benito Floro, September 1-11, in Valencia, Spain.

A pair of international friendlies against Mauritania has also been scheduled for September 8 and 10.

The Spanish-born Floro, who was named manager on July 5, will get his first comprehensive look at the group of players he currently has available for selection. The roster is expected to be announced in the week leading up to the gathering.

Interim head coach Colin Miller guided Canada at the recently completed CONCACAF Gold Cup.  The former tournament champion went 0-1-2, playing eventual runner-up Panama to a scoreless draw for its only point of the competition.
