América tops Spirit in thrilling W Champions Cup Final
América becomes first Mexican club to win W Champions Cup
PACHUCA, Mexico – The 2025/26 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals concluded with Club América Femenil earning a 5-3 victory against the Washington Spirit in the Final on Saturday at Estadio Hidalgo in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico.
Club América opened the scoring in the 22’, with Scarlett Camberos playing a cross in for Aylín Aviléz, who slid in the center of the box to send the ball to the back of the net.
Geyse doubled the lead for Las Águilas in the 27’ with a powerful hit from the left side of the box. Camberos picked up the assist with a through ball down the left.
Sofia Cantore shortened the deficit for the Spirit in the 30’ with a right-footed strike from long range.
The Spirit opened the second half equalizing in the 46’. Leicy Santos found Rosemonde Kouassi in space with a pinpoint threaded pass, before the latter scored at the far post.
Kouassi sealed her brace in the 58’ to place the U.S. side in the lead, 3-2, with an individual play and wonder strike from a tight angle at the right end of the box.
Geyse scored her second goal of the match in the 61’, applying pressure inside the box to force an error and level the scoring at three apiece.
Irene Guerrero came off the bench to restore the lead for América in the 79’, taking a service from Camberos before slotting her chance from the center of the box.
América’s victory was sealed in the 90’+6’, after an own goal from Spirit’s Esme Morgan.
With the win, Club América Femenil claimed its first W Champions Cup title to lift its first Concacaf trophy in club history.
As 2025/26 Concacaf W Champions Cup winners, Club América Femenil secured a place in the 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup and a chance to play in the 2028 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
