Ramos, Applewhite send United States to the U-20 Championship Final

The United States booked its spot in the U-20 Championship Final with victory against Costa Rica.

MEXICO CITY – The 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship continued on Friday with the United States securing a 2-0 win against Costa Rica in the Semifinals at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, Mexico.

The U.S. took the lead in the 36’ with a right-footed effort from Rubén Ramos from outside the box.

Costa Rica came close to finding the equalizer in the 69’. A shot from the edge of the box from Adrián Espinoza was saved by USA goalkeeper William Lodmell, followed by a key clearance defender Braden Dunham.

Chris Applewhite doubled the lead for the U.S. in the 76’ with a finish from inside the penalty area. Tristan Brown provided the assist with a precise delivery into the box on a set piece opportunity.

The United States will now face either Canada or Mexico in the Final of the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship on Sunday.
