Mexico, Panama Meet With World Cup Spot at Stake

MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Men’s U-20 Championship Quarterfinals continue on Thursday with hosts Mexico facing Panama at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, Mexico.

The winner will advance to the 2026 Concacaf Men’s U-20 Championship Semifinals and clinch a spot in the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

The hosts and defending champions return to the pitch looking to maintain their winning streak, completing a perfect Group Stage performance with three consecutive wins to finish atop Group B.

Hugo Camberos has been a key player for Mexico in the competition, scoring a goal in every match he has played so far in the tournament. His tally now stands at three goals, placing him among the tournament’s top scorers.

Panama reached the Quarterfinals as the best third-place team from the Group Stage, finishing with a 1W-1D-1L record and scoring six goals.

A strong attacking output in a 4-0 win over Honduras helped Panama secure its place in the Quarterfinals; Josue Wood, Moisés Richards, Gerson Gordon and Carlos Rodríguez all scored in Panama’s last match in the Group Stage to secure the win and qualification.
