Late equalizer secures point for Jamaica against Canada
2-2 draw between Canada and Jamaica in their Final Group C match as both teams advance to the Quarterfinals.
PUEBLA, Mexico – The 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship continued with Canada and Jamaica playing out a 2-2 draw
on Saturday. The Group C match was played at Estadio Universitario BUAP in Puebla, Mexico.
Jahmarie Nolan placed Jamaica in the lead in the 21’, tucking the ball away from close range, capitalizing on a delivery from Brandon Bent from the left side of the box.
Marius Aiyenero found the equalizer for Canada in the 56’ with an effort from outside the box taking a deflection before finding the back of the net.
The Reds turned the scoring around in the 79’ through a penalty converted by Valter Sedin.
Sean Leighton levelled the score for the Reggae Boyz in dramatic fashion in the 90+12’ from the penalty spot.
The result sees Canada advance to the Quarterfinals, concluding the Group Stage in first place in Group C due to goal differential.
Jamaica also booked a spot in the Quarterfinals by finishing second in its group.
