El Salvador, USA Meet in Group A

The United States looks to stay on top of Group A as El Salvador searches for its first points.

PUEBLA, Mexico – The 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship continues with El Salvador facing off against the United States in Group A on Tuesday at Estadio Universitario BUAP in Puebla, Mexico.

The meeting marks the 10th time the nations meet in the tournament. The USA leads the all-time series 5-1-3 over El Salvador. Their last encounter was a 2-1 United States win in the Group Stage of the 2017 edition.

The U.S. is atop Group A as is coming off a 3-nil win over Haiti in the opener. Dino Klapija struck the opening goal in the 38’, before Ruben Ramos and Santi Morales each converted from the penalty spot in the second half.

El Salvador are seeking its first points of this year’s tournament after falling 3-nil to Cuba on the first matchday. La Selecta will be without defender Itzel Colocho, who was sent off in the 73rd minute after receiving his second yellow card.
