Costa Rica picks up valuable three points against Antigua and Barbuda

PUEBLA, Mexico – The 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship continued with Costa Rica securing a 4-1 victory against Antigua and Barbuda in Group B on Thursday at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, Mexico.

Dax Palmer opened the scoring for Costa Rica in the 9’, capitalizing on a throw-in into the box and finding the back of the net with a left-footed finish.

Antigua and Barbuda equalized in the 54’ through a right-footed finish from Vaughn Jackson. Blake Philogene provided the assist with a precise line-splitting through ball.

Costa Rica reclaimed the lead in the 58’, with Ethan Barley striking with a diving header following a delivery into the box from Walter Ramírez.

Yorlan Sosa converted a penalty to extend the lead for Los Ticos in the 70’.

Substitute Kionel Estrada rounded out the win for Costa Rica in the 78’ with a powerful strike from the right side of the box.

The result sees Costa Rica advance to the Quarterfinals, while Antigua and Barbuda concludes its campaign.
