Mexico opens U-20 campaign with victory over Antigua and Barbuda
PUEBLA, Mexico – The 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship continued with Mexico earning a 3-nil win over Antigua and Barbuda on Friday in Group B at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, Mexico.
Hugo Camberos opened the scoring for the hosts in the 12’ as he converted a penalty kick.
Mexico doubled its lead just ten minutes later when Santiago Sandoval’s terrific through ball found Camberos, who slid it across the box for Francisco Valenzuela to tap it in.
El Tricolor added one more before halftime as Sandoval pounced on a poor clearance in the 45’+2’.
Mexico will continue its title defense against Costa Rica on Monday. Antigua and Barbuda’s next match will be against Guatemala earlier in the day.
