Toluca, Tigres face off in the Final

Toluca will be in search of a third title, Tigres UANL seeks to lift the trophy a second tim.

TOLUCA, Mexico – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup arrives at its decisive last match, with Deportivo Toluca FC hosting Tigres UANL in the Final on Saturday at Estadio Nemesio Díez in Toluca, Mexico.

Toluca will host the championship match after finishing atop the competition’s cumulative standings. The club is in search of a third Champions Cup title after last winning the tournament during the 2003 edition.

Los Diablos Rojos reached the Final after staging a comeback in the Semifinals against Los Angeles FC, striking four second half goals to win 4-nil in the second leg, 5-2 on aggregate. Toluca forward Paulinho enters the Final leading the race for the Top Scorer Award, with the Portuguese attacker tallying eight goals in six appearances so far.

Tigres UANL is set for a record-tying fifth appearance in a Final during the modern era (since 2008) as it seeks to claim the trophy for a second time, last doing so in the 2020 edition.

Los Felinos arrive at the decisive meeting after knocking out Nashville SC, 2-nil, on aggregate with 1-nil victories in both legs. The result marked the second time the Liga MX club won a Semifinal without conceding a goal.

Tigres will look to its star-studded attack to clinch the title, including World Cup-winner Ángel Correa, and longtime goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán, who enters the Final with four clean sheets in eight appearances.

Pre-Match Stats

  • Two Liga MX teams are facing each other in the Concacaf Champions Cup final for the first time since 2021, when Monterrey C.F. defeated Club América 2-0 on aggregate. Since the format change in 2008, this is the tenth occasion that the tournament has been decided by two Mexican clubs.
  • Deportivo Toluca FC are aiming for their third Concacaf Champions Cup title across all formats. However, they have only won the competition via a final on one occasion, when they faced another Liga MX side (2003, 5-4 on aggregate against Monarcas Morelia). In 1968, they won their first title without playing a final.
  • Tigres UANL are looking for their second away victory against fellow Liga MX teams in the Concacaf Champions Cup since 2008. Their only previous such win came in March 2017, a 3-0 victory over Pumas UNAM in the quarter-finals.
  • Toluca have won their last three home games in the competition and could reach four victories for the first time since at least 2008. However, in that same period, they have failed to win against Liga MX teams (D2 L1).
  • Guido Pizarro could win the Concacaf Champions Cup as both a player and a manager for Tigres UANL, a feat also achieved by Vicente Sánchez in the last edition with Cruz Azul. In the previous 10 years, only one manager had lifted the trophy after doing so as a player: Tuca Ferretti in 2020, also with Tigres UANL.
  • Toluca's Paulinho has scored eight goals in the current Concacaf Champions Cup, leading the scoring charts. Should he score two or more goals in the final against Tigres UANL, he will be the first player to reach 10 or more goals in a single edition of the tournament since Javier Orozco scored 11 for Cruz Azul in 2010-11.
