MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup Quarterfinals saw Game Changers José González and Edwin Rodríguez deliver standout performances to help CS Cartaginés and CD Olimpia, respectively, secure Semifinals berths.

González has been a key performer for Cartaginés in the 2026 Central American Cup, being one of the main threats in attack with three goals and one assist.

After delivering a goal and an assist throughout the Group Stage, the Mexican forward was clinical with a strike in both legs as Los Brumosos knocked Deportivo Saprissa 5-4 on aggregate and made history by advancing to the Semifinals for the first time.

Rodríguez, meanwhile, has been one of the leading players for Olimpia with three goals and two assists in six appearances so far for Los Leones, putting together an impressive six-match unbeaten run.

The midfielder once again stood out as the Honduran side overcame L.A. Firpo 6-nil on aggregate to secure a Semifinals spot for a second edition in a row, running the show in Olimpia’s 3-nil Second Leg win with three goal contributions, tallying two goals and one assist.

González and Rodríguez will now cross paths in the 2026 Central American Cup, as Cartaginés and Olimpia will face off in the Semifinals in October.
