FC Motagua takes the win in the Quarterfinals First Leg

The Honduran club takes the advantage and remains unbeaten in the tournament.

HONDURAS – The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup action continued on Wednesday with FC Motagua earning a 3-nil win over Alianza FC in the First Leg of their Quarterfinals series at Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Alianza got off to a rough start as Julio Sibrián was shown a straight red card in the 7’ for a slide tackle challenge.

FC Motagua took advantage of being up a man as Óscar Padilla pulled off a backheel flick to open the scoring in the 30’. The hosts doubled their lead in the 54’ when Jefryn Macías knocked in a cross from close range.

Alejandro Reyes put a stamp on the victory in the 86’ as he fired a low left-footed blast.

With the result, FC Motagua remains unbeaten in this year’s edition of the tournament through five matches.

The second-leg of the Quarterfinals series will be played on September 16th at Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, El Salvador.

• Óscar Padilla scored against Alianza FC with his only shot from inside the penalty area among his three attempts. Overall, FC Motagua have the second-lowest average shot distance in the 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup, at 16.1 metres.
