Alianza FC earns first Central American Cup victory

Alianza FC earns its first win in Central American Cup history with a 1-0 victory over UMECIT FC.

PANAMA CITY, Panama - The 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup continued on Thursday with Alianza FC earning a 1-0 win over UMECIT FC in Group C at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.

Alianza FC scored the lone goal in the 30’ when Reyniel Perdomo clipped a ball over the top and in behind the defense, connecting with Alvin Mendoza who fired a shot past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

The result marked the first victory in Central American Cup history for the Panamanian club in just its second fixture in the competition.

Alianza FC will continue its Central American Cup campaign on Thursday, August 20 against Club Olimpia. UMECIT FC will face Deportivo Mixco in its next encounter on Wednesday, August 19.
