Angus Eve: “We’re Ready”

Angus Eve exclusive words for Concacaf ahead of Semifinals challenge.

MIAMI – Club Sando FC head coach Angus Eve talked exclusively with Concacaf.com ahead of Club Sando FC Wednesday’s Semifinals First Leg against Concacaf Caribbean Cup defending Champions Mount Pleasant.

Sando FC has delivered a great run so far in the tournament, looking to qualify to the Caribbean Cup Final for the first time in the club's history.

Angus Eve (1972, Carenage, Trinidad & Tobago) has praised his players for defying enormous odds to reach the semi-finals of the Concacaf Caribbean Cub after the Trinidad & Tobago team finished second in Group A on seven points.

HISTORY BEYOND CARIBBEAN CUP

When Sando FC and Mount Pleasant meet in the Semifinals, Head Coach Eve will come up against a good friend on the opposing bench in Jamaican 1998 World Cup hero Theodore Whitmore.

“Both of us are professionals and I know he's going to come and want to win the game. I am also coming to win the game, and that goes without saying. Our friendship will be put on the back burner for 95-plus minutes in each match.” Eve said.

"But at the end of the day, there's a lot of respect there, a lot of respect for what Tappa has done with Mount Pleasant. They are the champions and they showed a championship pedigree because they weren't doing well in the early parts of this tournament, but they came back and showed their pedigree to top the group" he shared.

YOUNG TEAM, GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Eve is delighted with what his young team has achieved so far: "We are a very young team, not a well-known team. For me, the guys have done tremendously well to reach this far with limited resources. I give the guys a lot of credit for doing what they're doing under the circumstances that we're doing it," Eve told concacaf.com.

Reaching the Caribbean Cup Semifinals was objective number one, said the experienced Trinidadian tactician. With that target in the bag, Eve and his team have their eyes on reaching the Final, winning the tournament and advancing to the Concacaf Champions Cup.

"We want to give ourselves the best opportunity to try to win going into this phase because in a Semifinal round, we could possibly qualify for the Concacaf Champions Cup, which will give our players and our club a little bit more notoriety" Eve stated.
