Almonte, Gomez secured first goals for Delfines in the 2026 Group Stage
Delfines del Este signed off its Caribbean Cup campaign in winning fashion.
SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS – Group Stage of the 2026 Concacaf Caribbean Cup saw Delfines del Este clinch their first win in Group A on Tuesday after a 3-1 score against Defence Force at Estadio PUCMM in Santiago De Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.
Captain Christopher Almonte was ready in the box to send a deflected ball to the back of the net in the 14’, not only opening the score for Delfines del Este, but also securing their first goal in the 2026 Caribbean Cup.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 26’, Emmanuel Gomez sending a long range left foot shot from outside of the box past Defence Force’s goalkeeper Isaiah Williams.
Gomez secured a brace and the third goal for Delfines in the 35’ with a left foot shot in the box.
Defence Force’s captain Justin Garcia was ready in the area to capitalize from a free kick, pulling one back for the Trinidad & Tobago side in the 81’.
With this result, Delfines del Este exits the competition in third place in Group A with an overall record of 1W-2D-1L. Defence Force vows out with 1W-0D-3L, getting fourth place in the group.
