GEORGETOWN, Guyana -- St. Lucia will leave no stones unturned when it visits Guyana on Sunday for an international friendly.

Head coach Francis Lastic conducted a training session Saturday at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence and said that the players are prepared for the challenge of taking on the Golden Jaguars.

“This is preparation stage for us and we welcome the idea of coming across to play Guyana,” said Lastic.  “It is going to be a test for us.  We have incorporated a couple of new players and we are looking to see how we can build on what we started last year and give the public a good show.”

Shaping the future of St. Lucia football his since 2012 appointment, Lastic has kept the national team together for the last two months.  He is using the Guyana friendly as a test ahead of the Windward Islands competition in May and the second round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in June against Antigua & Barbuda.

The 43-year-old expressed satisfaction with his team’s progress.

“The senior players have been molding the younger players and I think that augurs well for our football where the younger players coming in can gel and rub shoulders with senior players,” Lastic finished.
