FIFA sets new dates for the 2020 Women’s U-20 World Cup in Panama and Costa Rica

MIAMI, Florida – On Tuesday, the Bureau of the FIFA Council announced new dates for the 2020 FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup in Costa Rica and Panama.

The 2020 FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup was originally scheduled to take place in August and September of this year, however, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament has been rescheduled for January 20, 2021-February 6, 2021.

In addition to host nations Costa Rica and Panama, the United States and Mexico will represent the Concacaf region at the tournament.

This will be Panama’s first-ever appearance in the FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup and the third participation for Costa Rica. Mexico will be appearing in their ninth FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup, while the U.S. will be playing in their 10th, having previously won the 2002, 2008 and 2012 editions.

In addition, FIFA have also announced that the 2020 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in India has been rescheduled for February 17, 2021-March 7, 2021 and the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania has been rescheduled for September 12, 2021-October 3, 2021.
