Wins send Canada, El Salvador to Women’s U17 Championship

MIAMI, Florida – Canada and El Salvador collected victories on Wednesday to qualify for the 2024 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship on the final day of Qualifying.

The day started in Group F at the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic with Canada defeating Bermuda 9-0.

Nikolina Istocki was one of the stars of the day for the Canadians with a hat trick (67’, 71’, 90+3’), as was Annabelle Chukwu, who had a brace (25’, 66’). Joining those two on the scoresheet were Olivia Chisholm (6’), Isabelle Chukwu (37’), Keira Martin (80’) and Adriana Bianchin (86’).

El Salvador clinched the top spot in Group A thanks to a 6-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago at the Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca in Willemstad, Curacao.

The day belonged to Breanna Medina, who scored four goals (3’, 6’, 58’, 79’) to lead the way, while Camila Brower (19’) and Nahomy Portillo (88’) also got in on the scoring act.

Rounding out the day was the second test in Group A, pitting hosts Curacao against Cayman Islands and it was the Cayman Islands earning the victory thanks to Milanna Lamontagne’s goal in the 67’.
