DOMINICAN Republic – The group stage of the 2022 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship in the Dominican Republic is in full flight, as action continues on Tuesday with the teams in Group F and Group H.
In Group F at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Jamaica will be out to earn their second straight win of the tournament against host nation Dominican Republic.
The Reggae Girlz saw six different players find the back of the net in their opening 7-0 win versus Bermuda, including a brace from Maya Raghunandanan.
In the day’s other game, Canada will take on Bermuda fresh off of their 10-0 victory against Dominican Republic. Rosa Maalouf currently is the joint-top scorer in the 2022 CWU17 with four goals and will try to add to her total against a Bermuda side looking to bounce back.
The teams from Group H return to the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristobal for their second set of matches, including a tantalizing affair between El Salvador and Haiti.
El Salvador were 6-0 winners over Guatemala in their opening match thanks in part to braces from Breanna Medina and Karoline Velasquez.
Meanwhile, Haiti were opportunistic in their scoring and used a string defense to keep Cuba at bay, 2-0, in their first match with Chritlove Caramus and Walandjina Cyriaque scoring.
The day in Group H will open, however, with Guatemala facing Cuba. A win would be Guatemala’s third all-time CWU17 victory, while for Cuba it would be their first.
