Bermuda tops Bonaire in battle of unbeatens in Group A

MIAMI, Florida – Bermuda claimed a 2-0 win over Bonaire in a battle of unbeaten teams in Group A of the 2022 Concacaf Men’s Under-17 Championship Qualifiers on Saturday morning at the IMG Academy in Bradenton Florida.

Jannis Roberts converted a penalty in the 51’ and then four minutes later in the 55’ Luke Fulton scored to give the Gombey Warriors their third win in three matches.

Also on the day at the IMG Academy, Guyana overcame a rocky start to down Saint Martin 3-1. Adrien Jeremie scored in the 8’ to give Saint Martin a 1-0 lead, but the Golden Jaguars would respond with three straight goals through Matrim Martin in the 36’, Noah Kissoon in the 69’ and

Bryan Wharton in the 76’ to record the victory. Bahamas were winners on the day as well, narrowly edging British Virgin Islands 1-0 on a Robert Holcombe goal in the 33.

Group B returns to action at the IMG Academy on Sunday with a pair of matches, as US Virgin Islands take on Martinique, while Aruba duels with Anguilla.

Aruba are seeking a third in three games against an Anguilla side searching for their first victory, while a win would mark a first win for either USVI or Martinique. It will be the first ever CMU17Q meeting in both contests.

Rounding at the day will be the teams in Group D at the Estadio Nacional in Managua, Nicaragua. The top two teams in the group will meet, with hosts Nicaragua facing Antigua and Barbuda.

In the early game in Group D, Belize will square off with Turks and Caicos Islands. It will also be the first ever CMU17Q meetings in those two contests.
