Disciplinary Committee suspends two players following on-field violent conduct

Miami, FL – The Concacaf Disciplinary Committee has suspended Rubilio Castillo (Honduras) and Yusuf Abdurisag (Qatar) following the players’ violent conduct that took place on the field after their 2023 Gold Cup Group Stage match in Glendale, AZ, on June 29. 

After an investigation and due consideration of the incidents, and based on the Gold Cup’s Regulations and the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the Committee has imposed the following suspensions (in addition to the automatic one-match suspension):

  • #9 Rubilio Castillo, Honduras - two-match suspension (three matches total).
  • #11 Yusuf Abdurisag, Qatar - two-match suspension (three matches in total).

These suspensions must be served in official national team competitions.
