Comunicaciones wins Guatemalan semifinal opener

(Foto: Omar Solís) GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala -- Comunicaciones showed why it is the five-time defending champion in Guatemala, posting a 5-1 win over Antigua GFC in the first leg of their 2015 Clausura semifinal series on Wednesday at the Estadio Pensativo. The Cremas made a clear statement of intent during an outstanding first-half performance that yielded four goals as Jairo Arreola (9’), Carlos Castrillo (11'), Agustin Herrera (23') and Ruben Morales (43') found the back of the net.  Arreola (77’) added another late in the game, while Alejandro Galindo (30’) converted from the penalty spot for Antigua -- the only team to beat Comunicaciones twice during the regular season. "We were a very compact team, which when we had the ball, we took very quick decisions," summarized Comunicaciones head coach Willy Olivera.  "As the visitor, we showed that we were the better team.” The Uruguayan manager realizes, though, that his side has not yet accomplished anything.  It will target a strong performance and another win in the return match. "We respect every opponent and Antigua has proven to be a great rival, but we want to win on Saturday, in order to give joy to our people by being in a final," he declared. The star of the first leg was Arreola, who candidly admitted: "We are closer to the goal of winning the title, needing a few games to achieve it.  I'm happy for the goals and to contribute to the team.  We successfully minimized mistakes.  I believe that we were performing well and got a good lead." Communicaciones will host the second leg on Saturday at the Estadio Cementos Progreso.
