Action from the Caribbean Club Championship match between Greenbay Hoppers and Inter Moengotapoe (yellow jersey) in St. John's, Antigua & Barbuda, on February 24, 2017. ST. JOHN’S, Antigua & Barbuda – Group A play in the 2017 Caribbean Club Championship continued on Friday at the Antigua Recreation Ground with Racing FC (Haiti) and Inter Moengotapoe (Suriname) posting wins, jumping over Greenbay Hoppers (Antigua & Barbuda) into first place. In the doubleheader’s opener, Racing scored all the goals in the first half to earn a 4-0 win over Bequia United (St. Vincent & the Grenadines). Estenio Laurent (9’), Bendy Charles (16’), Marckens Dorisca (25’) and Jackson Jean (41’ pen) struck for the Haitians, which hold a slight advantage over Inter Moengotapoe atop the table on goal difference (+4 to +2). Dorisca netted for the third time in two games. After a scoreless first half in the nightcap, Stefano Rijssel (47’) and Donnegy Fer (82’) scored before and Grennbay Hoppers’ Linval Wilson (66’) was ejected as Inter Moengotapoe came out on top, 2-0. The results set up an intriguing Sunday to close group play, with Inter Moengotapoe taking on already-eliminated Bequia United and Greenbay Hoppers meeting Racing FC. Only the winners of the five, first-round groups will advance to the final round, where they will join two-time defending champion Central FC (Trinidad & Tobago). Last year, Central FC defended its Caribbean title by prevailing over fellow Trinidadian side DirecTV W Connection in the final for the second straight year, 3-0. The champion of the Caribbean Club Championship earns a place in the newly re-formatted CONCACAF Champions League, while the second-, third- and fourth-placed clubs will participate in the Confederation’s newly launched club championship tournament for Caribbean and Central American teams, which kicks off in August. 2017 CARIBBEAN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP First Round GROUP A (Antigua Recreation Ground – St. John’s, Antigua & Barbuda) February 22, 2017 Racing FC 2, Inter Moengotapoe 2 Marckens Dorisca 17’, 68’ / Kareem Kwasie 9’; Naldo Kwasie 68’ Greenbay Hoppers 2, Bequia United 1 Tomorley Thomas 13’; own-goal, Kamol Bess 70’ / Kamal Ollivierre 28’ February 24, 2017 Bequia United 0, Racing FC 4 Estenio Laurent (9’); Bendy Charles (16’); Marckens Dorisca (25’); Jackson Jean (41’ pen) Greenbay Hoppers FC 0, Inter Moengotapoe 2 Stefano Rijssel (47’); Donnegy Fer (82’) Table (Games Played, Wins, Draws, Losses, Goals For, Goals Against, Points) 1.- Racing FC 2-1-1-0-6-2-4 2.- Inter Moengotapoe 2-1-1-0-4-2-4 3.- Greenbay Hoppers 2-1-0-1-2-3-3 4.- Bequia United 2-0-0-2-1-6-0 UPCOMING MATCHES Sunday, February 26, 2017 Inter Moengotapoe v Bequia United, 17:00 Greenbay Hoppers FC v Racing FC, 19:30
