Arauz brace sends Panama through

PENONOME, Panama – The 2 025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers continued with Panama taking a 3-nil win against Cuba in Group E on Friday at Estadio Universitario in Penonome , Panama.

Within the first minutes of the match, Yarisleidy Mena brought down Karla Riley in the box leading to the referee Alyssa Pennington calling a penalty for Panama. Riley’s shot was stopped by Cuba goalkeeper Alianne Matamoro ; however, Ericka Arauz was ready in the box to strike off the rebound in the 2’ and place Panama in the lead.

An own goal by Sheyla Wanton doubled Panama’s in the 22’. Arauz secured a brace and the third goal in the 57’ with a right-footed shot in the area.

Panama finishes its campaign atop Group E with a perfect 4-0-0 record, clinching a spot in the 2026 Concacaf W Championship.

Cuba closed its W Qualifiers participation as second place in Group E with a 2-1-1 record.
