USVI looking to usurp Aruba’s place atop Group B

MIAMI, Florida – League C of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League swings back into action on Saturday with an important match-up in Group B, as US Virgin Islands hit the road to take on Aruba at the Complejo Deportivo Guillermo Prospero Trinidad in Oranjestad, Aruba.

Aruba sit atop the group with three points after winning their lone match during the September window, a 2-1 final at Cayman Islands.

But lurking right behind in second-place with one point is USVI, who battled to a 2-2 draw at home against Cayman Islands in their only match in the previous window.

USVI will be in action twice during the October window, so it is all there for them to lay claim to first place in the group, beginning with Saturday’s contest.

This will be the first ever meeting between the two nations and USVI will be relying on the likes of Jimson St. Louis and James Mack to provide a spark in attack. St. Louis scored in the draw with Cayman Islands, while Mack has two career CNL goals to his name.

Aruba will be keen to emerge victorious as well and send a strong message to the rest of the group. Rovien Ostiana and Darryl Baly were the ones who found the back of the net last month against the Cayman Islands.

But like always, Terence Groothusen will be the dangerman to watch. Groothusen has three career goals in the CNL, but has yet to add to his tally in the current edition.
