Turks and Caicos Islands and Sint Maarten ready for rematch of thriller

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos — Turks and Caicos Islands will take to their home field for the final time of the group stage when they meet Sint Maarten on Thursday at the TCIFA National Academy Stadium.

The game is a rematch of the most exciting League C Group D match thus far, with stars Billy Forbes and Gerwin Lake trading blows before Forbes got the last laugh with his hattrick and the TCA pulled away in the second half, 5-2.

This time they’ll receive the added support of their home crowd, and being down six points with just two games left to play means there’s a lot of work to do. There is still a path for Turks and Caicos Islands to top the group and enter the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup playoffs, but it won’t be easy.

They’ll also need a win over Guadeloupe later in the week, but before they get there, they require a big win against Sint Maarten to swing the goal differential back in their favor.

Forbes and company will be pushing hard for goals, but Sint Maarten star Gerwin Lake has the potential to put a dent in their plans all by himself, and the rest of the Sint Maarten squad are hungry to close out the campaign with a victory.
