NASSAU, Bahamas.- Action resumes in Group D of Concacaf Nations League A when Costa Rica makes its debut in the tournament with an away match against Haiti on Thursday at Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.
It wasn’t long ago that these teams last saw each other, with Haiti getting the better of the Central Americas to win their 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup group.
It was Haiti’s first-ever win over Costa Rica and the Caribbean side went on to the semifinals of the tournament, losing to eventual champion Mexico, but started CNL play with a loss and a draw to Curacao.
Haiti manager Marc Collat has most of his Gold Cup core in for this match, but has also freshened up the squad with Ronaldo Damus after his standout season in USL League One and inexperienced attacker Christiano Francois, who debuted against Curacao.
Veteran midfielder Wilde-Donald Guerrier also returns after missing the first set of games sorting out his club situation.
This will be a debut for Costa Rica manager Ronald Gonzalez in his first match of this stint as Ticos coach. PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas is among the veterans set to help Costa Rica look to start CNL play on the right foot and take a big step toward winning what may be the toughest group in the competition.
