MIAMI, Florida – Tyler Forbes had three assists and Luke Chalwell scored two goals to lead British Virgin Islands to a 3-1 victory over Turks and Caicos Islands in Group C of League C of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League on Saturday afternoon at the A.O Shirley Recreation Ground in Road Town, British Virgin Islands.

It was also a historical day for the home side, as it marked the first ever CNL victory for the British Virgin Islands.

It was a dream start for British Virgin Islands as they grabbed a 1-0 lead in just the fourth minute when Forbes swung in a corner kick and Troy Caesar thumped in a header, giving him his second career goal against Turks and Caicos Islands, the other coming in a 2019 contest.

The early momentum stayed with the hosts and quickly it was 2-0 thanks to Chalwell in the 10’ with Forbes playing the role of provider again, slicing a pass into Chalwell, who finished for the goal.

Turks and Caicos Islands were eager to get their talismanic striker Billy Forbes involved and the veteran goalscorer duly complied right before halftime by stroking home a penalty after a foul right inside the British Virgin Islands area.

British Virgin Islands came out strong to start the second and restored their two-goal advantage in the 50’ when Chalwell scored his second of the day on another excellent pass from Forbes.

The British Virgin Islands defense took over from there to see things out to the rest of the way to earn the three points.
