Team Profile

One of the founding members of Concacaf and the second-ever team from the Caribbean to make the FIFA World Cup, the Haitian Football Federation has made its mark on the region.

After a perfect record and first place finish in qualification, Haiti competed in Concacaf Nations League A, but struggled to keep its spot and was relegated after managing three draws and a defeat in a group that also included Costa Rica and Curaçao.

FIFA World Cup qualification in 2021 brought another near-miss, with Haiti advancing to the second round only for Canada to slip by in the two-legged series.

Haiti would love to return to the days when it made the World Cup in 1974 after winning the 1973 Concacaf Championship that served as qualification. Said tournament was on Haitian soil, but was sandwiched around second-place finishes in Trinidad and Tobago in 1971 and Mexico in 1977.

Haiti has been a regular in the Concacaf Gold Cup era as well, with the memorable run to the semifinals in 2019 its best-ever showing.

Haiti’s senior women’s national team also has been a regular sight on the continental level, making half of the Concacaf W Championships since its launch with a 1991 tournament in Port-au-Prince. That tournament saw Haiti finish fourth, their best-ever finish.
