Bio

A full Concacaf member since 2014, Bonaire is looking to make noise in the Caribbean and the larger region.

The men’s national team made quick progress since joining Concacaf, winning its debut over the U.S. Virgin Islands in Caribbean Cup qualification in 2014 and moving into the next phase of qualification before exiting.

The team took just one loss in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League campaign but twice topped the British Virgin Islands and played group-winner Bahamas to a draw to finish second in the group in the inaugural CNL. Bonaire also earned a victory over the British Virgin Islands in CNL qualification.

A third-place finish from Real Rincon at the 2018 Caribbean Club Shield stands as the best result historically for Bonaire’s clubs, with the new Caribbean club tournament announced as part of the confederation’s Champions League overhaul.

Now, the Bonaire men’s national team is hoping to push into Nations League B and one day clinch a Gold Cup slot, something that would be the maximum achievement for the island, which until 2010 played the sport under the banner of the Netherlands Antilles, whose history stayed with Curacao after the dissolution of the constituent country.
