Team Profile

Although the Arubaanse Voetbal Bond was founded in 1932, it became a Concacaf member in 1986, when the national teams split from the Netherlands Antilles. It has been working to forge its own path since.

Aruba’s most recent success for the men’s national team was a 3-1 triumph over the Cayman Islands in the first round of World Cup qualification, though in a group topped by Canada, Aruba wasn’t able to move on to the second round.

After a strong Concacaf Nations League qualification campaign, in which Aruba notched an historic 3-1 victory over Bermuda and battled Guadeloupe to a draw, it landed in League B of the Concacaf Nations League.

The first-ever Nations League campaign was a challenge, but Aruba will be eager to have a strong campaign and get back to the middle division.

With a strong plan for long-term growth under the stewardship of technical director and Ajax legend Stanley Menzo, perhaps they’ll soon set their sights even higher.

There also is a plan to develop more women’s football on the island, with the team taking part in Concacaf’s new competition structure and looking to make a name on the regional and global level.
