SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador -- Panama defeated host El Salvador for the second time in slightly more than two months, posting a 3-1 victory in an international friendly on Friday at the Estadio Cuscatlan.
The Canaleros also won 1-0 in the Central American Cup’s match for third place on September 13 in Los Angeles and are now unbeaten in seven straight games against their regional rival.
Nicolas Muñoz struck in the 21st minute to give the visitor a 1-0 lead. The 32-year-old forward, who plays club football with current Salvadoran champion Isidro Metapan, did well to position himself in between four defenders to slide a right-sided cross home from the edge of the six-yard box.
Four minutes later, Anibal Godoy doubled the advantage, delivering a left-footed effort from 25-yards out inside the right post.
The Salvadorans got on the scoreboard in the 39th minute as Alexander Larin converted a penalty kick.
Roberto Nurse completed the scoreline by finding the back of the net from seven yards with five minutes remaining in normal time.
Panama returns home for a friendly against Canada on November 18, while El Salvador will visit Nicaragua the same day.
