PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil – Brazil extended its winning streak to 10 games, defeating Honduras 1-0 on Wednesday in an international friendly at the rainy Estadio Beira-Rio.

It was the South American side’s second straight triumph over CONCACAF opposition after topping Mexico 2-0 on Sunday in Sao Paulo.

The only goal was scored in the 33rd minute by Roberto Firmino, who slotted home from seven-yards out after receiving a splendid pass in the left side of the box from Filipe Luis.

Honduras, which is preparing for July’s CONCACAF Gold Cup, completed a series of three friendly matches with a 1-1-1 record, which included a win over El Salvador (2-0) and a draw with Paraguay (2-2).  The Catrachos return to action on July 1 with a friendly against Mexico in Houston.

Brazil’s next match is against Peru on Sunday in the 2015 Copa America.
