PANAMA CITY, Panama – Slightly more than two weeks after earning a berth in the 2016 Copa America Centenario, Panama will open a mini-camp on Monday in preparation for next month’s friendly against El Salvador.

Head coach Hernan Dario Gomez has called in 24 players for the three-day gathering that will be held at the Estadio Maracana, where the February 17 encounter against the Salvadorans is slated to be contested.

None of the 14 players seeing action in the 4-0 win over visiting Cuba on January 8, which sealed the Canaleros a place in June’s historic Copa America, will take part in the sessions.

All those convening are locally based, with San Francisco FC (8) and current Panamanian champion Arabe Unido (6) combining to provide 14 players.
