MEXICO CITY – The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación announced Thursday that its men’s national team will face Argentina in an international friendly on September 8 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

It will possibly be the first encounter between the sides since the South Americans posted a 3-1 victory in the round of 16 at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.  They could be pitted against each other at some point during the Copa America this June.

In 27 previous meetings between them, Argentina holds a 12-4 advantage in wins.

Mexico will use the match as preparation for its 2018 World Cup Qualifying opener, which is slated for November.
