KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent & the Grenadines – Guyana and host St. Vincent & the Grenadines will launch their qualifying campaigns for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the second round on Wednesday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

The visiting Golden Jaguars, however, will be without the services of four potentially key players.  The England-based quartet of Neil Danns, Matthew Briggs, Samuel Cox and Marcel Barrington traveled with the squad, but must sit out since their Guyana passports have not yet been issued.

As a result, head coach Jamaal Shabazz called up forwards Kevin Beaton, Pernell Schultz and defender Chris Camacho.

“I’m a bit disappointed that we didn’t get the help that we sought in terms of the paper work being done on time, but we look forward to it being done for Sunday’s game,” said Shabazz, referencing the second at Providence Stadium.  “This is the test of football…to rise above challenges and obstacles.  Of course, it provides opportunities for the other guys who have been working hard to stake their claim in the team.”

Guyana is unbeaten in 2015 with a 2W-1D-0L record, posting shutouts in its last two outings, wins over St. Lucia (2-0) and Grenada (2-0).
