ST. JOHN’S, Antigua & Barbuda – Antigua & Barbuda defeated Dominica 1-0 in an international friendly at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG).

Team captain Tamorley Thomas scored the game’s only goal in the 32nd minute.

Antigua head coach Rolston Williams was impressed with the visitor’s level of fight, but thought his side responded well to the challenge.

“Thought that the Dominica team was quite physical,” said Williams.  “They’re strong, they’re big players and they came yesterday [Sunday] with a physical kind of game and tried to disrupt us from our passing game.  But we were able to fend them off and keep our discipline and our concentration in winning the game.”

The host fielded a squad that consisted mainly of under-23 players.

"There’s a lot of work to do as the new technical director is trying to embed a new culture or philosophy that the players are buying into, but it is going to take some time for that culture and philosophy to grow,” Williams finished.  “And, so therefore, we just have to take it stage by stage in order to reach where we want to go.”

The Benna Boys will take the field again on March 22, when they welcome the British Virgin Islands to the ARG.
