Honduras tops Uruguay in U-20 friendly

MALDONADO, Uruguay -- Honduras defeated host Uruguay 2-1 in an under-20 friendly that featured three expulsions on Monday night at the Estadio Domingo Burgueño.

Kevin Lopez netted the game-winning goal in the second minute of second-half stoppage time.

The visitor took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute through Orental Bodden, but Uruguay equalized in the 90th minute, when an own-goal was credited to Kevin Alvarez off Gaston Pereiro’s free kick.

Cristian Gonzalez (78’) and Jaime Baez (89’) were ejected for Uruguay, while Honduras’ Carlos Moncada (89’) was also dismissed.

Both sides are preparing for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup and will meet again Wednesday at the Estadio Luis Franzini in Montevideo.
