Kindel’s double drives Canada past Nicaragua in Women’s U-17 Qualifiers
ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – The Final Round of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers continued with Canada winning 5-nil against Nicaragua in Group A on Tuesday at the Costa Rica Football Federation Field #2 in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Canada pulled ahead with two goals in quick succession. Gabriela Istocki opened the scoring from close-range in the 11’, followed by Lacey Kindel striking with a right-footed finish from the center of the box in the 13’.
Brooklyn Boldt added a third for The Reds in the 27’, finding the back of the net inside the box to capitalize on a defense-splitting pass from Isabella Lanzillotta.
Kindel converted an attempt from the penalty spot in the 33’ to seal her brace.
Adalyn Fairweather rounded out the win for Canada in the 83’ with a stunner hit to the top right corner from long-range.
Both teams continue their qualifying campaigns on Thursday, March 19. Canada will face the Dominican Republic, while Nicaragua faces El Salvador.
