MIAMI, Florida – This Friday at 7:00 PM ET, Concacaf will be airing a re-broadcast of the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship semifinal between Mexico and Canada, followed by the 2018 CU20W Final between Mexico and the United States. Both matches will be shown on Concacaf’s Facebook and YouTube pages, plus the Concacaf App.

The Final of the 2018 CU20W will forever live in Mexican women’s football history as it marked the first time that Mexico won the CU20W.

It all started amid rainy conditions at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago, but the slippery conditions did not seem to bother Mexico’s Dayana Cazares, who gave her side a 1-0 lead in the 33’ with a fantastic move and right-footed finish.

The U.S. looked to respond in the second half and managed to find the 1-1 equalizer in the 49’ via a set piece.

An in-swinging corner kick forced Mexico GK Emily Alvarado into an awkward position and after an initial U.S. header at the far post, Tierna Davidson was there to steer home a second header past Alvarado.

The U.S. then nearly scored the winning goal in second half stoppage time, but Alvarado came up with a massive block to force extra time.

After defeating Canada in the semifinals in a penalty shootout, Mexico would once again be forced to keep their nerves from the spot after both sides failed to score in extra time.

Alvarado, who saved the final two Canada attempts in the semifinal shootout, would save a third straight penalty to give Mexico the early advantage.

She would make another save on the third U.S. attempt, setting the stage for Belen Cruz, who confidently swept in her spot kick to clinch a 4-3 shootout victory for El Tricolor and a first CU20W title for Mexico.
